...a humble little pack with a 70 year history.

The Cub Scouts is a program of Boy Scouts of America.  It is designed to teach leadership and discipline to boys and girls between Kindergarten and Fifth grade.  It serves as a great introduction to the Boy Scouts of America program as they get older.

Pack 226 was established in Chatsworth, CA in 1946.  Things were a lot different back then, and we are proud that the pack has continued to thrive throughout the many changes.  Currently, we have about twenty boys and girls ranging in age from 5-10 from not only Superior Elementary, our home school, but from many other schools in the West Valley.

During the school year, we meet almost every other Tuesday evening at 6:30 pm at Superior Street Elementary, in Chatsworth.  While the BSA program has a religious component, our Pack is non-denominational.  We prefer to leave it entirely to the parents to discuss religious issues with their Cub Scouts.

The Cub Scouts earn their ranks by working on “Adventure” awards.  These Adventure awards teach important lessons about community, patriotism, camping, first aid, and many other useful skills and values.  As a pack, we go on two to four camping trips per year, in the Los Angeles area, plus larger campouts with other packs in our district.  Parents or guardians are required to be on camping trips with their Scouts.  Aside from camping we also have many other fun activities and events that we organize ourselves or through our charter organization, Kiwanis Club of Chatsworth.

The ultimate goal of a Cub Scout is to earn the Arrow of Light award.  This is an award your child can be proud of his entire life.  It also prepares them well to participate in the BSA program, where they can eventually become an Eagle Scout, the highest achievement attainable in the Boy Scouts of America.  We have had many Scouts who have come through Pack 226 go on to eventually earn their Eagle Scout distinction.

We welcome you and your child to visit our pack and begin a wonderful adventure!
